The Beehive Collective – The True Cost of Coal
Sanford Mall, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Beehive Collective is hosting The True Cost of Coal, an event to inform the public about the concept and consequences of mountaintop removal coal mining, which they are doing via large hand-drawn posters.

Merlefest
Wilkesboro, N.C., 2:30 to 10 p.m.
Merlefest is an annual music festival held in honor of musician Merle Watson, the late son of country music icon Doc Watson. This will be the first year that the festival has occurred without the presence of Doc Watson, who passed away in May of 2012.
Admission: Prices vary, general admission for all four days is $165

Madwoman of Chaillot
Valborg Theatre, 7:30 p.m.
“The Madwoman of Chaillot” is a satirical play following a Parisian woman’s attempts to stop corrupt businessmen from exploiting the environment for their own personal gain.
Admission: $15 for adults, $8 for students and children

Film: Silver Linings Playbook
I.G. Greer, 7 and 9:30 p.m.
Plot according to imdb.com; “After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.”
Admission: $1

Live Music: Bubonik Funk
Boone Saloon, 10 to 11:30 p.m.
Bubonik Funk is a four-person soul/rock/funk band from Charlotte, S.C. They have previously toured with Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, who played at Legends last semester.

Greenbriar Theatre, 7 p.m.
Plot according to imdb.com; “When Cinderella’s cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the Royal Ball, she gets some unexpected help from the lovable mice Gus and Jaq, and from her Fairy Godmother.”

Live Music: The Mountain Goats

An eclectic American folk rock band, led by singer/songwriter John Darnielle.
Admission: $10 for students in advance, $12 for public and at the door
