Georgia-based jam band Perpetual Groove will play the familiar Legends stage Thursday night.
The band's popularity has grown since its first Legends showing, but they still enjoy the Boone music scene.
"We like the crowd," keyboarder Matt McDonald said. "They're always very receptive. They also like good music."
McDonald was Perpetual Groove's original keyboardist. He returned to the group early this year, taking the place of John Hruby.
"I was excited about playing with Perpetual Groove again," McDonald said. "It doesn't get any better when you're looking for something to dance to."
The band's style touches on a variety of genres from progressive rock to trance electronica. That diversity of sound, combined with unique, high-energy live shows, has helped the group build a strong college fanbase.
Appalachian State University students are no exception.
"App has found Perpetual Groove is one of the bands that they love and want back," APPS Program Advisor Randy Kelly said. "Their shows are never monotonous and they live to put on a show that's different."
Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance for students and $12 at the door for everyone. This event is BYOB with proper identification.
