What is Best of Boone?

For nine years, The Appalachian has asked you to decide your Best of Boone. This High Country tradition includes categories like best burger, best local band and best professor. The people of Boone crown the elite local picks of their choosing. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and everyone who loves the High Country can cast their vote in the Best of Boone Special Edition.

The issue is divided into four categories: best of food, best of lifestyle, best of App State campus life and an alumni section. For most categories, we provide choices as well as a write-in option. The choices listed received the top three votes in reader-submitted ballots from previous years.

While Best of Boone benefits local businesses and the voices of our community, it also serves as a guide to incoming App State students and visitors to the area, providing recommendations on where to eat, drink, hike, study and more.

Advertising Best of Boone

Businesses are welcome to encourage participation in Best of Boone through advertising with The Appalachian. Best of Boone advertisements are available in our bi-weekly newsletter, monthly print edition and website, excluding social media. Social media advertisements are available, but restricted to content unrelated to promotional Best of Boone content. After Best of Boone results are released, thank you advertisements will be available on The Appalachian’s social media.
