Hard times afoot
App State softball was rolling along just fine until its March 3 matchup against USC Upstate on the road was canceled.
Since then, the Mountaineers (9-13) have dropped six of their past seven games and have fallen to 0-6 in the Sun Belt.
Things don’t get any easier from here, however, as App State takes to the road for five straight, including three conference games against nationally-ranked South Alabama.
Run, don’t walk
Scoring runs has been tough for App State softball over the past few games, but that is a recent trend.
To close out February, the Mountaineers scored seven or more runs three times in a four-game stretch, including a 13-run outburst in a win over Austin Peay and a nine-run display in a win at Wagner.
Recently, however, times have been tough as the team has scored more than three runs only twice in their past seven games. In that stretch, the Mountaineers have been shut out once and held to one run twice.
