On August 23 a female student reported to Appalachian State University police that she had been sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance August 17.
The alleged assault reported took place in a university residence hall on the west side of campus.
University Police advised students via email to ensure consent when taking part in any sexual activity and to be wary when dealing with another individual while alone in a private place.
Police also advised that if you find yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable you should call the police immediately.
