The App State women’s soccer team faced off against the Longwood Lancers at home on Thursday. The game was postponed due to a weather delay. However, it would prove to be worth the wait for Mountaineers fans.
The match was highlighted by freshman forward Ellie Garrison who scored a pair of goals. The first goal of the match was scored in the 30th minute off of an assist from junior defender Shannon Studer.
Garrison’s next goal would come just before halftime. The freshman would score an unassisted goal after taking the ball down the pitch to get into scoring position.
The Mountaineers had 14 shots to the Lancers seven. Graduate forward Izzi Wood had seven shots, four of which were on target. The Black and Gold had seven total shots on goal.
The App State defense was also a bright spot. Redshirt freshman goalie Sarah Wommack posted a shutout, her third in four games.
The Black and Gold won the match 2-0, increasing the Mountaineers’ home win streak to 13 consecutive matches and remaining unbeaten on the season.
