App State women’s golf failed to qualify for the Sun Belt Championship match, finishing sixth in the tournament at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama.
The Mountaineers’ best round of the tournament was the opening round, finishing with the lowest score at 3 under par. Freshman Zoe Duval was 3 under herself, while the rest of the team finished at even par.
Round two brought troubles for the Black and Gold, finishing ninth in the field at 14 over par. Every golfer for App State shot over par. Freshman Alisa Pressley had the lowest score at 1over par.
There was still a chance for the Mountaineers to qualify for the final if they finished with a good score in the third round. However, the Black and Gold faltered again, finishing the round with the tenth-best score at 11 over par, knocking the team out of a position to move on. Duval was 3 under par once again, but the rest of the team was multiple strokes over an even score.
Duval finished the three rounds tied for fifth at 2 under par.
