A man was pulled off the Green West AppalCART route today when the driver noticed a BB gun In his possession, according to University Police.

“It’s not what I would say is a firearm,” University Police Captain Johnny Brown said. “He had no intent of harming anyone.”

Brown said he suspects the man was most likely a non-student who was unaware of the laws against weapons on campus.

“Normally, it’s not against the law to own a BB gun or have one in their possession,” he said.

The AppalCART driver noticed the man’s gun and immediately removed him from the bus and asked him to show his ID and called the police, Brown said.

The incident is still under investigation.
