Former sophomore sustainable development major Tyler Blalock was found dead around 8 a.m. in the Kraut Creek section of Durham Park, Saturday hours before tailgaters began setting up for Family Weekend tailagtes.
It was confirmed this morning Blalock’s death was a result of an accidental drowning and he was alone at the time, according to a news release from the university.
There was no evidence of foul play. The evidence suggests Blalock slipped on a rock and hit his head before falling into the water, according to the news release.
“The thoughts and concerns of the Appalachian community are with Tyler’s family and friends during this difficult time,” according to a statement from the ASU Police.
The Appalachian will continue to update this story as more information is confirmed.
