Around every corner, sounds of strings strumming and folks singing will echo down the busy halls of the Plemmons Student Union as the Old-Time Fiddlers Convention returns Friday, marking the 18th year of the beloved Boone tradition. Over 400 attendants from across nine states will be attending on Feb. 6-7 in the student union.
The convention will kick off on Friday with a square dance from 5-7 p.m.
Doors will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday with competitions beginning at 9:30 a.m. The competitions will run throughout the day for adults and youth in the following categories: mandolin, guitar, fiddle, banjo, string band and dancing. Scores will be announced at 5:15 p.m. and doors will close at 6 p.m.
Along with the competitions, there will be workshops, showcases, a handmade market and food from FARM Cafe.
This event is a chance to honor and let the rich history of bluegrass wash over you. Whether participating in competitions or just there to enjoy some sweet bluegrass tunes, listening to this playlist of curated tracks is a great way to prepare for this event.
