Seniors from Appalachian State University’s industrial design program will hold an expo at the new Beasley Media Complex on Friday at 5 p.m.
“The industrial design program hosts a senior show at the end of every year,” said Derek Elliott, an organizer for the event. “This year we’ve branded it the ‘Design Expo.’”
The Senior Design Expo will take place during the Downtown Boone Development Association’s First Friday Art Crawl.
“Displaying our work at a large venue during a popular time of the month give us the chance to show off our work, educate people about industrial design, what we do,” Elliott said. “It’s also a nice way to relax and unwind after classes are over. When design students are able to show their work off it attracts the attention of manufacturers interested in producing their designs as well as consumers who can give feedback and appreciation to the broad range of work.”
Students displaying their work will showcase approximately three pieces each. The band Dog’s Best Friend, a three-member band made of Appalachian students, will provide the live music.
The expo will last until 9 p.m. and barbecue plates will be sold for $5.
