A female student reported Sunday night that she was physically assaulted by an unknown male student in the west tunnel under Rivers Street on Saturday at approximately 6 p.m., according to an email from University Police.

According to the email, the victim was allegedly grabbed by the arm, then pinned against the wall, causing her to drop her bag of groceries.

She identified the alleged perpetrator as a 5-foot-10-inch white man with brown hair and brown eyes who was clean shaven and wearing a black North Face jacket, blue jeans, and L.L. Bean boots. She also told police that she recognized him from an off-campus party she had previously attended, but does not know his name, according to the report.

No physical injuries have been reported and the incident is under further investigation.

Information regarding the crime can be reported to University Police by calling (828) 262-2150 or submitting anonymous tips to police.appstate.edu.
