The position of vice provost of faculty affairs will split into two positions effective July 1 to respond to the “needs of the faculty,” Provost Lori Gonzalez said in a letter to faculty.
The current vice provost, Tony Carey, will serve as vice provost for faculty development starting at that time.
Mary Reichel, the current deans of libraries, will join Carey.
“She was interested in an administrative role outside of the library and I grabbed the opportunity to use her many talents,” Gonzalez said. “She is very well respected on campus and is a strong supporter of faculty.”
This has been a time of unprecedented challenges at the university, Gonzalez said in the letter.
“I understand your concerns and have witnessed firsthand your passion and dedication to higher education,” she said in the letter.
