From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Free Store Road Show will be on Sanford Mall to celebrate Earth Month. Bring some donateable clothes from your closet and walk away with a few new pieces while aiding the mission of diverting landfill waste and encouraging sustainable shopping practices.
Spend the evening with the March sisters at APPS’ screening of “Little Women,” starting at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Blue Ridge Ballroom. Free snacks and hot drinks will be provided at 6 p.m. for a cozy night of film, community and camaraderie.

Ask Me Anything: Beginner Teacher Coaches Q&A
For those interested in a career in education, come to room 024 in Belk Library and Information Commons between 7 and 8:30 p.m. to receive guidance from beginner teacher coaches about creating your own classroom. All participants will be provided a free book and professional tips and strategies for the early years of teaching.
Join Queer ‘Neers for the first meeting of the semester as they celebrate Valentine’s Day with a night of crafting and community. Make valentines for the special people in your life and play games with new friends. The meeting will happen in room 421 of Belk Library from 6:30-8 p.m. Free pizza will be provided.

Toy Sheep Microcinema: Killer of Sheep
In 2023, App State professor Craig Fischer started Toy Sheep Microcinema, a film screening series dedicated to weird and eccentric cinema. This Thursday, the collaborative will be providing a free showing of “Killer of Sheep,” the non-linear 1978 indie film, at The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country from 6:30-9:30 p.m., doors opening at 6 p.m.

February Fizzy First Friday – Spring Exhibition Celebration
Fizzle into February with the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts’ Fizzy First Friday. The evening will feature the opening of two new exhibitions as well as two talks from contemporary artists. Free drinks and snacks will be provided for guests to enjoy as they explore the galleries with friends and family. The evening will begin at 4 p.m. with drop-in art making in the Moscowitz gallery and continue until 8 p.m.
18th Annual Old-Time Fiddler’s Convention: Kickoff Square Dance
Kick off the 18th annual Old-Time Fiddler’s Convention with APPS’ Kickoff Square Dance in the Summit Trail Solarium from 5-7 p.m. No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to have fun and enjoy live music. Come for the dancing, stay for the community.
Saturday, Feb. 7
18th Annual Fiddler’s Convention
Fiddling festivities continue through Saturday with a full day of live music, workshops, Handmade Market and more. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the event is free for the public. Grab a bite to eat between sets from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. from F.A.R.M cafe catering.
End the day with a quick walk down to Appalachian Theatre for the third annual Boone’s Got Talent showcase. Sit back and enjoy the eclectic live performances from local performers. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event will occur from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the Appalachian Theatre website.
