App State track and field traveled to the Wake Forest Invitational, held Thursday and Friday, and the Aggie Invitational, held Friday and Saturday.
The best performances from the Wake Forest Invitational, on the men’s side, were freshman Bryant Young winning in the 800m open 1 with a time of 1:53:22, redshirt freshman Noah Martinson winning the 5,000m with a time of 14:15:36 and junior Matthew Gray winning the pole vault jump reaching 5.61m.
On the women’s side of the event, freshman Josie Jackson finished in first place in the 800m open 3 with a time of 2:11:38 and senior Ava Studney placed second in the pole vault jump by reaching 3.88m.
During the Aggie Invitational on the men’s side, sophomore Christopher Stewart finished in first place in the shot put at 17.06m and in third place during the discus throw with 48.69m. Senior Jake Stanley finished the javelin throw in second place, with 51.75m and sophomore Brandon Parker did well after being tied for seventh place in the 100m prelims at 10.38, and being tied in 10th in the 200m at 21.31.
For the women’s side, freshman Ashlynn Wimberly had the best performance after finishing in first place in the high jump, reaching 1.75m. Sophomore Harlee Fonville placed third in discus throwing with 45.56m and freshman Alana Braxton also finished in third place in the triple jump with 12.33m.
App State will look to continue with its success when they return to the High Country for the John Weaver Invitational this weekend, Friday and Saturday.
