Despite remaining tied for a majority of the game, ASU defeated Chattanooga 34-17, Saturday.
This is the Mountaineers’ eighth straight win against Chattanooga.

The two teams entered the fourth quarter knotted at 10 in what was a tightly contested game, but App overwhelmed the Moc’s in the final frame to blow the game open 34-17.

“I think the last 11 minutes was one of the best segments we’ve played this season,” Head Coach Jerry Moore said.

The defense played a large role in the team’s fourth quarter success, forcing turnovers on three consecutive Chattanooga drives to open the quarter.

Quarterback Jamal Jackson connected with wide receiver Sean Price for touchdowns on back to back drives following the turnovers to take a commanding lead.

Price, playing in only his second career game, led the team with 130 yards in the air.

But prior to the fourth quarter, the game appeared to be in the Moc’s favor. Early turnovers allowed the Moc’s to hold a 10-0 lead after the first quarter.

“It was an awesome game for us,” Moore said. “You never know how a game will go. I was unbelievably proud of our football team to come back like they did after getting down 10-0.”

However, a 35-yard touchdown catch by running back Steven Miller just before halftime tied the game up and gave App some momentum going into the second half.

Jamal Jackson achieved a milestone in his career, becoming the 13th Mountaineer to pass for 3,000 yards. Jackson ranks 12th all time with 3,173 yards according to goasu.com.

App will face Coastal Carolina at home Saturday in their final non conference game of the year.
