App State men’s golf traveled to Madison, Mississippi, to compete in the Sun Belt Championship. Placing 11th out of 14 teams, the Mountaineers came up short in advancing.
The Black and Gold opened with an impressive start. Seniors Herman Huus and Ben Read set the tone in the opening round, keeping App State close to par. Huus led the Mountaineers at 1 under par, and Read followed at even par.
The remaining golfers each finished over par, contributing to the team’s 6 over par in round one.
In the following two rounds, the Black and Gold set back-to-back over-par scores. Despite having an early lead, App State lost momentum and continued to drop in the ranks.
