Monster Energy sponsors Rehab Rave

Appalachian Popular Programming Society Stage Shows Council will host a Rehab Rave sponsored by Monster Energy Drink Thursday at Legends.

The entertainment will be provided by two North Carolina DJs: DJ Rye and DJ Lotta No!ze.

Based out of Greensboro, DJ Lotta No!ze has performed for big names like Brooke Hogan, Swizz Beatz, Russell Simmons and Damon Dash. According to his website, Lotta No!ze is “one of the few DJs that spins the music video to every song he lays giving the crowd and added visual effect.”

DJ Rye, based out of Raleigh, lists influences like Kaskade, Axwell, A-track, Diplo and Tiesto on his Facebook page.

“The sound and style that Rye gravitates to is progressive house/ Electro, however, his emphasis tends to be based on what the club/ club goers are looking for, a mix of top 40, dance and hip hop,” according to DJ Rye’s Facebook.

This will be the first time that either DJ has performed on Appalachian’s campus.

Merrick Marquie, sophomore management major and Chairperson for APPS’ Stage Show Council, said the opportunity for the rave is due to the success of an event that occurred earlier in the school year.

“APPS Club Shows put on a similar event on campus at the beginning of the year — Styles and Complete,” Marquie said. “This event did tremendously well with over 300 people in attendance.”

Unlike the Styles and Complete event, this rave is sponsored by Monster Energy. The name of the event refers to the Rehab line of energy drinks produced by Monster Energy.

According to Monster Energy’s website, these drinks are attended to recharge and rehydrate the consumer after a night of partying. They come in a variety of flavors including Orangeade, Green Tea, Tea+Lemonade and Rojo Tea.

Events sponsored by large companies like Monster Energy are not frequent to Appalachian, but Marquie said the experience collaborating on the details for the event has been good.

“Monster Energy has been fantastic to work with,” he said. “They are bringing the models that they are known for as well as the Monster truck.”

Since the rave is sponsored by Monster Energy, these drinks and other items, like glow sticks and T-shirts, will be distributed.

The event takes place on Thursday and will begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $3 for students in advance and $5 at the door.
