The Ohio-based indie group Walk The Moon will make landfall for the first time at Legends in January.

“We’ve been talking under the seams for a little while,” said Randy Kelly, programs advisor for APPS. “We were just not allowed to announce it until today.”

Walk The Moon released their first full length album in June – self-titled –  and have had positive reactions from it, including the single “Anna Sun” awarded “Song of the Summer” by MTV in May.

Kelly said Paradigm Records, who have signed Dave Matthews and Gym Class Heroes, let him know the possibility of Walk The Moon coming to Legends.

“When they say this is going to be the new up and comer, they are never wrong,” he said.

APPS Concerts Chairperson Jeff Peterson said he thinks a “fresh, new band” with a different sound is good for the lineup at Legends.

“People have been saying they want to see some change on campus,” he said.

Walk The Moon is currently touring in Europe and returns to the United States in November.

Kelly and Peters said they think the wait from now until January will allow time for more singles to release from Walk The Moon’s latest album, letting students here more of their music before the performance.

“I found out they like to face paint a lot,” Peterson said. “They do that for as many live shows as they can and they try to bring up some extra paint to share with friends at the show. So it sounds like it will be a very engaging show.”

Walk The Moon’s show takes off Wedneday, Jan. 30 with doors opening at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are set at $13 for students in advance $17 for everyone at the door.
