An Evening of Writing and Sharing with the Creative Writing Club
In IG Greer Hall, room 224, from 6-7 p.m. The Margin, a creative writing club, is having a meeting for any and all writers at any experience level to come share and support each other’s work. This meeting will also include prompt writing, drafting and feedback time from peers.
Tuesday, March 3
Doc Watson’s 103rd Birthday Celebration
Join Stateline Resource Station at Huzzah Books from 6-9 p.m. to celebrate the 103rd birthday of Doc Watson. It is $10 online and $15 at the door. Music will be presented throughout this event by Caleb Hignite, Orson Cornett, Jackson Lewis, Luke Ward and Miss Maybelle’s Mythical Mountain Music. This event is being hosted in an effort to raise funds for the long-term Hurricane Helene relief efforts for Stateline Resource Station’s ongoing efforts.
Wednesday, March 4
Join the Latin Hispanic Alliance for their annual Latin potluck from 5-8 p.m. in the Parkway Ballroom, room 420, in the Plemmons Student Union. This event will allow attendees to enjoy food and music while exploring Latin culture.
Thursday, March 5
Old-Time Jam at the Jones House
Join the community at the Jones House Cultural Center from 7-10 p.m. for their regular Thursday evening jam with local and visiting musicians. Those at any skill level and background are welcome to this event to play any old-time acoustic instrument you have.
Friday, March 6
At 11 a.m., the App State women’s tennis team will be playing against Virginia Commonwealth University on the App State Tennis Courts at the Appalachian 105 Complex. All tennis matches are free admission.
Saturday, March 7
The Appalachian Mountain Brewery is hosting its annual Flannel Fest from 12-10 p.m. at its Boone Pub location. This event costs $10 to enter. There will be live music from Proto Giraffe, Marvelous Funkshun and Hustle Souls, food trucks all around, cross-cut competitions and plenty of fun for everyone to join in.
From 7-10:30 p.m., Milton Harkey is presenting The Grascals at the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country. The Grascals are based out of Nashville, Tennessee and blend bluegrass, gospel and country to create a unique form of bluegrass music. They have made their name as two-time IBMA Entertainer of the Year, three-time Grammy nominees and a Dove Award nomination alongside other distinctions, including collaborating with Dolly Parton. Tickets for this concert are $16 for students and $35 for standard admission and can be purchased here.
