Playlist of the week: Aquarius season with Aquarius artists

As we approach the middle of  February, we are now midway through Aquarius season. As an air sign, Aquarius is unconventionally expressive and values individualism and personal freedom. A collection of Aquarius artists with original sounds and bold instrumentals, this week’s playlist walks through multiple genres and tones of music that all feel different, yet freely expressive.

Opening with “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd, a danceable, euphoric tone is set for the beginning of the playlist. Dance around your room to “Daydreaming” by Harry Styles, fitting for the airy essence of the zodiac sign. Strut along to Megan Thee Stallion’s pop-rap track “Her,” as she celebrates self confidence, a trait very much belonging to the sign of Aquarius. Round out the dance party with Justin Timberlake’s “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING (from DreamWorks Animation’s ‘TROLLS’),” for a modern disco feel.

There are multiple tone shifts throughout the playlist to reflect the innovative and independent Aquarian traits. Alicia Keys’s striking anthem “Girl on Fire” preaches self-empowerment. Ava Max’s “Sweet but Psycho” and The Weeknd’s “Starboy” both display notes of electropop and synthpop, giving the playlist a slowed down beat. The ballad “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles gives listeners a chance to expressively belt out emotional lyrics.

The Aquarius artist Bob Marley makes an appearance with his reggae disco track “Could You Be Loved” towards the end of the playlist. It concludes with Tyla’s pop-R&B track “CHANEL” to leave listeners with a smooth and danceable sound.

These tracks by Aquarius artists take listeners through danceable beats, heartfelt ballads and self-empowering anthems, showcasing the different aspects of the Aquarius zodiac sign. From the energetic zest for life that the air sign usually has, to the shy, more reserved spot it can also take, these songs take the listener along a journey of movement, feeling and different states of mind.
